St Brendan's County Home

St Brendan's Nursing home on the lake road has quite a history-The Loughrea Union workhouse was erected in 1840-1 on a 6.5-acre site, by the mid-1840s, sheds were erected to accommodate 100 fever patients-a fever hospital was built soon after.

THE FAIR GREEN

CORRY'S PARK (west of the town)

The walk runs through Corry's field runs along the lake shore and is c 15 acres of natural wetlands and meadow. The area is filled with wild flowers and is a good vantage point for birdwatching.
